Grades retain their published rating system; different systems and historical grades are not equivalent. Elevation gain means climbing metres, not summit altitude. Missing figures are not estimated.

Route questions, answered

Specific planning questions, with the scope of each source kept visible.

East or north ridge: which hut is the starting point?

The SAC lists the east ridge from Weisshornhütte at 7–8 hours, ZS, and the north ridge from Cabane de Tracuit at 8–9 hours, ZS+. These are ascent estimates from different huts; their approaches and the descent need separate planning.

SAC · Weisshorn (VS) route overview and archive

Is the Schali ridge a shorter trip because it is listed at 5–6 hours?

That estimate starts at Schalijochbiwak, not in the valley. The SAC grades the ridge S, above the east ridge’s ZS in its German notation. The shorter listed summit ascent therefore does not establish a shorter or less demanding complete outing.

Jatzalp or Schatzplatte: how do the hut approaches compare?

SAC Basel lists Jatzalp at 4½ hours, T2, and Wildi–Schatzplatte at 5 hours, T3. Both reach the hut, not Weisshorn's summit.

SAC Basel · Weisshornhütte summer approaches

Does the east ridge's 7–8 hours include walking from Randa?

No. That SAC ascent starts at Weisshornhütte. Add the hut approach and plan the summit descent separately.

Research still needed

For Weisshorn, this atlas does not yet document first-ascent history. Missing first-ascent evidence does not mean a mountain is unclimbed.

Use the linked sources as starting points; summit coordinates do not describe a climbing route or public access.
