About Triglav

Triglav's Krma itinerary combines a long valley approach with a very demanding protected summit path. The hut arrival and the summit are separate planning stages.

Route questions, answered

Specific planning questions, with the scope of each source kept visible.

Do the Vrata routes’ 6 hours 30 minutes include the descent?

No. PZS gives this for the valley-to-summit itineraries via Prag or Tominšek and Kredarica. Plan the return separately; the same published ascent time does not mean the two paths have identical terrain.

PZS · Dovje–Mojstrana mountain routes

What does “zelo zahtevna označena pot” mean on Triglav?

It is PZS’s classification for a very demanding marked mountain path. It is not a via-ferrata letter grade. The source describes steep and protected passages; we retain the original system rather than converting it to B, C or a rock-climbing grade.

PZS · Dovje–Mojstrana mountain routes

Are Krma's eight hours a return-trip estimate?

No. PZS lists eight hours for the ascent itinerary via Kredarica to Triglav. Descent and any overnight stay are additional.

PZS · Dovje–Mojstrana mountain routes

Does reaching Kredarica finish the difficult terrain?

No. The source describes very demanding protected climbing onwards over Mali Triglav to the summit.

PZS · Dovje–Mojstrana mountain routes

Is Planika confirmed open for an overnight plan?

No. Its PZS page reports closure at this check. Recheck the hut's status and arrangements before committing to a plan.

PZS calls the Krma summit itinerary a very demanding marked path and describes exposed cable-protected climbing beyond Kredarica. Its category is not converted to a ferrata letter grade.

Season and restrictions

The Planika hut page reports closure at the 6 October 2026 check. Confirm shelter availability separately; a hut listing does not establish safe summit conditions.

Research still needed

For Triglav, this atlas does not yet document first-ascent history. Missing first-ascent evidence does not mean a mountain is unclimbed.

Use the linked sources as starting points; summit coordinates do not describe a climbing route or public access.
