Route questions, answered

Specific planning questions, with the scope of each source kept visible.

Do the south and Martin ridges start from the same hut?

No. The SAC lists the south/Wandflue ridge from Cabane de la Dent Blanche at 4–5 hours, and the Martin ridge from Cabane du Grand Mountet at 9–11 hours. These are different ascent itineraries; the initial hut approaches and return must be considered separately.

SAC · Dent Blanche route overview and archive

Does the south ridge’s 4–5 hours cover the whole Dent Blanche tour?

No. It is the ascent estimate from Cabane de la Dent Blanche. It does not include reaching the hut or descending from the summit, and it cannot be transferred to the longer Schönbiel approach or the Grand Mountet itineraries.

SAC · Dent Blanche route overview and archive

Does a south-ridge topo confirm current conditions?

No. The guide’s July 2026 topo distinguishes dry climbing from icy rock after a storm. Its publication date is not a conditions clearance for your climbing day.

For Dent Blanche, this atlas does not yet document first-ascent history; checked seasonal restrictions. Missing first-ascent evidence does not mean a mountain is unclimbed.

Use the linked sources as starting points; summit coordinates do not describe a climbing route or public access.
